Tour Description
Butakovka is a picturesque mountain gorge in Kazakhstan, located in the mountains of Zailiysky Alatau in the Almaty. In the upper reaches of the gorge is Bukreev peak (3010 meters).
Altitude: 1700-2900 meters above sea level. At the bottom of the gorge, the Butakovka River flows, which is the right tributary of the Malaya Almatinka River. From the Kazakh language “Butakovka” is translated as a branch, from the word “butak”.
In the Butakovka gorge, 2 popular ski touring routes are available: to Nadezhda headland and to Bukreev peak.
Nadezhda headland skitour
Ascent: about 4 hours.
Altitude difference: 800 meters.
Route difficulty: easy.
Bukreev peak skitour
Ascent: about 6 hours.
Altitude difference: 1050 meters.
Route difficulty: medium.
